Staff will begin to move into the new rooms soon. Looking ahead to a possible return to hybrid learning, these rooms will aid in addressing a critical lack of space for students and staff. South of Worthington Middle School and adjacent to the new Learning Center, groundwork for the voter-approved Intermediate School has begun and will continue into the winter as long as weather and ground conditions permit. This facility will be built with a 900-student capacity and will serve students from third, fourth and fifth grade. This project is in its early stage of construction, but is running smoothly on the projected timeline. The new facility will help in greatly reducing space issues that are present in Prairie Elementary and Worthington Middle School. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the ISD 518 School Board passed a motion that allows for the board and ISD 518 administration to begin planning for construction of a new facility to house the Community Education programs that currently utilize space in the West Learning Center building. To move Community Education out of its current space has been a long-standing goal of the school board. The planning process has begun with initial steps including setting a budget for the project and working to determine design specifications that are necessary for the building. The bonuses projects that are nearing completion and the new plan for constructing a building for ISD 518 Community Education are all exciting opportunities for ISD 518 students, staff and the district community.
